Most of the statements are correct, but they are not telling you why Jesus is the only way to God.

The penalty of sin is death. So, if anyone dies, they are paying the penalty of sin. Which means you could never die in my place to pay the penalty of sin, for me. Why? Because you would be incurring the penalty of sin for your own sin, based on God’s judgment. As Heb. 9:27 alludes to, “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment”.

So, the only chance for someone to pass from spiritual death to spiritual life is that if someone else pay the penalty for them, i.e. someone sinless, who is NOT under the “penalty of sin” themselves.

Peter puts it this way, “It was the precious blood of Christ, the SINLESS (not under the penalty of sin), spotless Lamb of God”, who has redeemed us.

So, it is only someone NOT under the penalty of sin, that can bring us back to God. Therefore, “No one comes to the Father, except through me”!

This is also the reason why Church, Religion, good works, etc. cannot bring you to God. Because none of these things pay the penalty of sin, which is death, none of these things are “death”, especially Priests standing at an alter! They too have sinned and are under the same penalty. Only a sinless substitute can stand in your place and pay it for you. Christ alone is the only way, truth, and life.

Additional Note: In the context Jesus death is drawing close, he is discussing with them his approaching death and them eventually joining him when he makes the amazing statement, “I am going there to prepare a place for you”. So, in the context, he is saying that he is the way, truth and life as pertains to providing access to God forever. The way to God, the truth about this way to God and the life he alone can give so we can share the life of God.

It is not some magical, mystical truth, or the truth about the universe, etc. This can be seen when the chapter ends, he says,“You heard me say, I am going away and I am coming back to you, “If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.”

So, it is all about him being the way, the truth and the life as pertains to their new life with God through him and what he does on the cross (death) and his resurrection (life)!!

“and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross (sinless substitutionary death), so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” 1 Pet. 2:24

“and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross (sinless substitutionary death)” Eph. 2:16

And this is why he said from the cross, “it is finished”, which is better translated “paid in full”, i.e. his death, he being free from sin, pays the “penalty of sin” for us in full. No one else’s death could ever do that! So he is truly THE way, THE truth, THE life for being reconciled to the Father (“no man can come to the Father except me”, he said), therefore, no man can ever come to God, except through his death!!!!!
